RestorFlora Frequently Asked Questions
RestorFlora is a special-purpose combination probiotic containing the friendly yeast species Saccharomyces boulardii, along with two Bacillus spore species. RestorFlora is an excellent addition during or after antibiotic therapies to provide additional intestinal protection and diarrhea support.
Targeted Diarrhea Support
Several clinical studies show that the friendly yeast S. boulardii (also called Sac. B) is helpful for support with gut disorders, especially gut bacterial challenges, antibiotic-associated diarrhea and C. difficile associated diarrhea. The unique properties of S. boulardii make it a beneficial addition to a probiotic regimen when extra support is needed for difficult gastrointestinal challenges.

How to Use RestorFlora
RestorFlora Product Questions
How do I use RestorFlora? How much should I take?
RestorFlora is best used along with MegaSporeBiotic rather than by itself. RestorFlora is an special purpose addition to MegaSporeBiotic to add targeted support for diarrhea.
If you arrived at this website through one of Michelle Moore’s books, members website, or other informational resource, then please refer to that informational resource for specific protocols and methods to address specific challenges. For the general protocol for the RestorFlora product, including amounts, timing and how to use for adults and children, please see our Probiotic Restoration Guide.
Is RestorFlora OK to use with other supplements?
RestorFlora can generally be used at the same time as other supplements. RestorFlora is best used along with MegaSporeBiotic rather than by itself. If you have concerns about mixing specific supplements, consult with a holistic or natural doctor.
Is RestorFlora OK to use with antibacterial remedies like Biocidin and Olivirex?
RestorFlora withstands broad-spectrum antibiotic drugs very well without loosing probiotic potency. The same should therefore be true of antibacterial remedies of various kinds, including Olivirex and Biocidin. If you have concerns about mixing specific supplements with your probiotics, consult with a holistic or natural doctor.
Does RestorFlora have any side effects?
RestorFlora is a professional grade product and has a higher potency than other probiotics. The only side effect that requires caution is potential “die-off”, “cleansing” or “detox” reactions if you start at the full usage amount from day 1. The most frequently reported symptoms are intestinal cramping and loose stools. Other symptoms of G.I. detox or die-off include: gas, bloating, cramps, diarrhea and gut discomfort. For more about detox symptoms and relief, please see the What are common die-off or detox symptoms when using supplements FAQ below.
Therefore, it is highly recommended to start with a low amount and slowly work your way up to the full amount over several weeks to reduce the risk of these symptoms. For our recommended product usage, please refer to the “How do I use the RestorFlora product?” FAQ above.
Should you take RestorFlora with a meal or on an empty stomach?
Taking RestorFlora just after a meal (within 10 to 20 minutes) is ideal. The amino acids and carbohydrates in food help the probiotic spores move from their dormant to active form in the upper GI tract, providing immune system benefits.
How long until I see positive results?
RestorFlora is a physician’s strength, professionally formulated probiotic supplement. When used along with MegaSporeBiotic, some people report positive results within a few days of use. However, it can take some time for your body to change the balance of it’s intestinal flora and heal itself. Also, if you don’t start slowly with this probiotic, some symptoms of gut discomfort may increase for a little while, especially if you start with the full usage amount. Probiotics alone are not a substitute or replacement for a complete program to address stubborn challenges. For best results, this program includes: immune system support, diet changes, proper cleaning and hygiene, prevention measures, professionally prescribed treatments or remedies, and the guidance of a healthcare professional.
Will RestorFlora “cure” me?
Nutritional supplements such as probiotics are not meant to treat or “cure” any kind of disease or medical condition. The purpose of nutritional supplements is to support your body to heal itself. We have all been programmed by the media, drug companies and even our doctors to take a pill to fix our health problems. But for most difficult health challenges, this mainstream concept of taking pill X to “cure” disease Y is an incomplete and short term solution at best. It really does take a complete approach to address stubborn challenges – this is why Michelle Moore wrote her books. Rather than putting all your stock in a single supplement, it’s better to address the challenge on multiple fronts as detailed her books.
What are common die-off or detox symptoms when using RestorFlora?
Detoxification or die-off reactions are not uncommon when taking potent probiotics, using antibacterial supplements or remedies, or when making substantial diet changes. Note that these reactions are also referred to as detox, detox reaction, cleansing reaction, herxheimer reaction, or bacterial die-off reaction.
This reaction doesn’t happen for everyone, but if it does, it’s a good sign. It means that flora changes are happening in your gut: “bad” bacteria are dying and your body is cleaning house to remove these bacterial toxins and associated waste products. However, if this process happens too quickly, it can lead to some unpleasant symptoms.
Detox symptoms can vary widely, but for probiotics the most common symptoms are due to die-off of “bad” bacteria and include gas, bloating, cramps, diarrhea, loose stools and gut discomfort. Other general detox symptoms when taking new supplements or making healthy lifestyle changes include feeling tired, brain fog, headaches, body-aches and nausea. Unfortunately, many of these symptoms are quite similar to common infection symptoms. Therefore, it can be challenging to know for sure if you are experiencing a detox reaction or the symptoms of an infection. However, if you just started a new supplement or probiotic, or recently increased the amount you are using, slowing down or temporarily stopping use of the product will allow for any negative symptoms to subside, which generally occurs within a day or two.
Is RestorFlora OK to take with antibiotic drugs?
RestorFlora is comprised of Sac. B. yeast and Bacillus spores which are very tolerant of antibiotics. Like MegaSporeBiotic, RestorFlora can be taken at the same time as antibiotics. RestorFlora is generally very safe and can actually support the body’s healing process and help reduce the side effects of antibiotics. For specific interactions between the prescriptions you are taking and any supplement, be sure to consult with your doctor and read the product insert for the drug in question to see if there are any contraindications.
Should I stop taking my antibiotics?
Antibiotics are important drugs that are often helpful and are a valid treatment option. Neither Michelle nor Embrace Health, Inc. condones that you stop taking a prescribed antibiotic drug unless directed to do so by a qualified medical professional. As with any drug, antibiotics have pros and cons and side effects. It’s ultimately your decision whether to use antibiotics or not. The key is to be under the care of a medical professional no matter what methods you choose to use.
Is RestorFlora safe during pregnancy and while nursing?
The effects of taking RestorFlora during pregnancy has not been studied specifically. However, probiotics in general are not only safe but very important during pregnancy and while nursing. Mothers pass on their immunity to their child through breast milk, from personal contact and during the birthing process. The spores inside RestorFlora have the ability to modulate the microbiome to help improve the mother’s immune system, which is passed on to her child. Do be sure to start slowly with RestorFlora (just like any other probiotic) so you do not have a cleansing reaction. If you have questions about using a specific supplement during pregnancy or while nursing, please talk with a healthcare professional who is familiar with your particular needs.
Is RestorFlora safe for children?
Children as young as 2 months can use RestorFlora, provided that they start slowly and use a low usage amount. For babies less than 6 months old, a capsule can be opened and a pinch of the powder can be placed into the infant’s mouth using your finger. For kids older than 6 months, a pinch of capsule powder may be placed into food or drink. For details about usage for children, please refer to the “How do I use the RestorFlora product?” FAQ above. If you have questions about using a specific supplement with your child, please talk with your healthcare professional.
What are the capsules made of?
Vegetable capsules are used for RestorFlora. There is also cellulose in the capsule that is the prebiotic (food for the probiotics). It’s made from hypo-allergenic, Non-GMO acacia fiber.
Does RestorFlora contain gluten, wheat or dairy?
RestorFlora contains no gluten, wheat, dairy, corn, nuts, salt, sugar, soy, artificial colors or flavors.
Does RestorFlora require refrigeration?
Most probiotics on the market suffer when not refrigerated. With RestorFlora, no refrigeration is necessary. The bacterial spore and yeast species inside RestorFlora are very stable and it can be stored in a cool, dry place inside your home. This makes shipping the product less expensive (no cold packs required), and convenient when traveling.
Why is RestorFlora not sold in stores?
The product is too potent and people using it need to receive support and guidance. Be sure to review the product usage guide in the above FAQ “How do I use RestorFlora ” and contact us if you have any questions. It’s also important to be seen by a health practitioner to monitor your progress and adjust product usage as needed. A consumer strength version of the product called Thrive is available in some stores.
What is the shelf life of RestorFlora ?
The shelf life is more than 2 years. Shelf life is marked on the bottom of each bottle.
What do you do if you have die-off or detox symptoms?
Fortunately, die-off or detoxification symptoms are generally mild, largely preventable and usually temporary. The best way to avoid these symptoms is to start slowly with any new supplements or when making healthy lifestyle changes. If you do experience symptoms that are too uncomfortable, the standard practice is to reduce or stop taking the suspected supplement for a few days to see if you feel better. If you feel better after reducing the supplement, then the supplement may be started again at a lower amount or at a lower pace, if well tolerated.
If a particular supplement is still not tolerated well after starting slowly, then you may have to avoid further use of the supplement.
When experiencing detox reactions, drinking plenty of water can be helpful to aid your body in flushing out toxins. Get extra rest to allow your body time to recuperate.
If you experience symptoms using RestorFlora, then the Mega IgG2000 toxin binder can help reduce these symptoms. Mega IgG2000 helps remove the toxins that bacteria excrete when they die as a result of taking powerful probiotics or using antibacterial remedies. Because these toxins often cause negative symptoms, removing them can help you feel better.
The GI Detox product is made with charcoal and clay and can also be helpful for bacterial die-off reactions because it helps “mop up” toxins in the gut. This can reduce or eliminate any detoxification or die-off symptoms.
